Approaching dust storm in northern Iraq.
[singlepic id=7 w=500 h=333 float=none]
On my last deployment to Iraq, this is the one picture that I hoped to get while I was there. I'd seen those cool wall of dust pictures on the Internet, and I wanted a dust storm that I took myself. My only regret is, that I didn't bring my Canon dSLR with my to Iraq. This picture was taking with my Lumix TZ1. (next time I go back, the Canon 20D will be in my bag).
Given the fact that it was just taken with a small point and shoot camera, I think the picture came out pretty good (would have loved to have had a tripod and the 17mm Tokina lens). The fact that the dust storm was nice enough to come along just before sunset probably helped a bit. I like the contrasting colors, with the blue sky, and the sun setting behind the tan and orange wall of dust.
